Large White Birch Tree

Description

A particularly tall White Birch tree with a pale trunk and light, open canopy. At 400mm tall, this is one of the larger trees in the range and makes a convincing mature specimen on an O Gauge (7mm scale) layout. It can also provide a genuinely full-sized tree for OO Gauge modellers with sufficient scenic space.

Downy Birch, sometimes known as White Birch, is closely related to Silver Birch and shares its characteristically light, airy appearance. In Britain it is particularly associated with Scotland, northern and western areas, and wetter ground.

The relatively open foliage allows glimpses through the canopy, making this a useful tree where you want substantial height without creating a solid mass of greenery. It works particularly well on woodland edges, beside rural roads, around parks and gardens, or in open countryside. Its height also makes it effective behind buildings or other scenery, where it can add depth and a much-needed sense of scale.
