Description
With its distinctive pale bark and light, open foliage, Silver Birch brings a very different shape and texture to a model landscape. This substantial 300mm tall tree is ideally suited to O Gauge (7mm scale), but also makes a convincing full-sized tree on an OO Gauge layout where space allows.
Silver Birch is widespread across Britain and much of Europe. Its slender trunk, fine branches and relatively open canopy make it particularly recognisable, as well as providing useful contrast alongside heavier, denser trees such as Beech, Ash and Sycamore.
It's a versatile tree for modelling woodland edges, rough ground, embankments and lineside scenery, as well as parks, gardens and more urban settings. Silver Birch also works particularly well in small groups, reflecting the way younger trees readily establish themselves on disturbed or previously unused land.
The figures shown in our photographs are 7mm scale (O Gauge) models to give an indication of size. Additional photographs show how the tree can also work with 1:35 scale models.
