Large Hawthorn Tree

Description

A broad, characterful Hawthorn tree for adding the slightly irregular look of the British countryside to a model landscape. At 300mm tall and 350mm wide, it's particularly well suited to O Gauge (7mm scale), while its naturally modest real-world height also makes it a convincing mature tree on larger OO Gauge layouts.

Hawthorn is one of Britain's most familiar trees, particularly associated with hedgerows, field boundaries and woodland edges. Mature Hawthorns often develop broad, uneven crowns and can become substantial trees in their own right - rather than simply forming part of a hedge.

That makes this model particularly useful alongside fields and country lanes, on the edge of woodland, around farms or cottages, or as an established lineside tree. Its wide canopy also makes it an effective way of filling a larger scenic area without creating formal-looking woodland.

The figures shown in our photographs are 7mm scale (O Gauge) models to give an indication of size. Additional photographs show how the tree can also work with 1:35 scale models.
